We’re very proud to offer homeschool families in the Merrimack Valley a very unique opportunity to enroll their children into ensemble type music classes that up until now only public schools have offered. Below please check out our current offerings and let us know if you have any questions.
Orchestra – Instrument Introduction – Ages 8-14
A basic introduction to the violin, viola, cello & string bass. In this 12-week semester, each instrument will be the focus of instruction for a three week period. Through this experience students are given chance to dip their toes into the world of strings without a long-term commitment. Students who enjoy the program are encouraged to deepen their exposure through String Orchestra I.
Band – Instrument Introduction – Ages 8-14
A basic introduction to the flute, clarinet, trumpet and alto saxophone. In this 12-week session, we will spend three weeks on each instrument, just enough time for students to get a basic understanding of simple techniques. At the end of the semester students should have a feel for whether a band instrument is a good fit for them. If interested in pursuing the band experience, students are encouraged to progress to Concert Band I.
String Orchestra I – Ages 8-16
Prerequisite: Orchestra-Instrument Introduction or 3 months of private lessons. For most, this string orchestra ensemble will be a student’s first experience in a group ensemble setting. Participants will be led by a professional instructor and will work together to learn and perform entry level orchestral material.
Concert Band I – Ages 8-16
Prerequisite: Band-Instrument Introduction or 3 months of private lessons. For most, this concert band ensemble will be a student’s first experience in a group ensemble setting. Participants will be led by a professional instructor and will work together to learn and perform entry level band material.
Musical Voyagers – Homeschool Edition – Ages 6-9
Our Musical Voyager – Homeschool Edition class is a weekly 45 minute small group class that focuses on three areas of music: piano, music theory and instrument playing. Each week time is split evenly between learning piano, music theory basics and instrumental exploration through hands-on trial. This is a great starter class to get kids interested and motivated to participate in music.
